One to One: Day 18
By Tracey Armstrong

Exodus 33:2 And I will send My Angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. (NKJV)

So far, we have looked at a couple of enemies of Israel. We have looked at the type of tribes that were enemies of Israel, which are the shadow of what our (the Church) enemies are right now. The Jebusites were the last in the list of those that the Angel of the Lord was going to drive out and overcome on behalf of the children of Israel.

Again, we have to look at the word “Jebusite.” “Jebusite” comes from the root word “Yebuwc” (yeb-oos’); which means, “trodden.” This is a wonderful name for our enemy because he is trodden under our feet. The other names talk about what the enemy’s abilities were. Well, the final study shows us the true state and position of our enemy. He is trodden down!

The Bible says in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (NKJV) We also see our victory in Romans 16:20, “And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.” (NKJV)

Finally, we see it also in Zechariah 10:5, “They shall be like mighty men, who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle. They shall fight because the LORD is with them, and the riders on horses shall be put to shame.” (NKJV)

There are more scriptural references to the power of God that is in and with us. Even though we have been using this Exodus scripture for a confirmation of angelic help sent to us from God, I must note that many Old Testament scriptures refer to Jesus as being the Angel of the Lord. In our Exodus text, we notice that “angel” is capitalized, meaning that the New King James translators believe that this angel was divine and not merely created. This makes sense because Jesus went before us and conquered our foes. He conquered all of the things that were obstacles before we would ever face them. All of the devices that the enemy used against the children of Israel have no effect on us as long as we abide in Christ. Please remember that God sent Jesus to die for you and me, and for that reason, He will make sure that you and I walk in freedom, as long as we believe.

DECLARATION
Father, thank you for taking out the enemy and for destroying his works against my family and me. Father, I will gladly be your feet and step on the neck of your enemy!

DEED
Take fifteen minutes out of your day and thank God for things that He has done in the past, things that He is presently doing, and the things that you believe He will do. During that time thank God for the ONE and their breakthrough.
